Bluewood Brewing
About Bluewood Brewing
You'll hear the bass rattling Cherokee Street before you even spot the roll-up door at Bluewood. This old carriage house on Cherokee isn't your sleek modern taproom. It's dark, brick-lined, and smells like heavy mash and fried food from the kitchen. You walk past the brewing tanks right when you enter, and the crowd's usually a mix of neighborhood regulars and metalheads catching a Sunday matinee.
Sound bounces hard off the bare limestone walls, so bring earplugs if you're standing right up front by the makeshift stage. Bartenders work fast when the room gets shoulder-to-shoulder, pouring pints of their stout without missing a beat. There's no fancy cocktail list here, and nobody cares about your drink order beyond getting you a cold pour so you can squeeze closer to the monitors.
Step outside between sets to cool off on the sidewalk while the smokers argue about local guitar pedals. It's loud, sticky, and you'll probably head home with your hoodie smelling like pale ale and spent grain. Don't look for a coat check or a quiet booth in the back because you won't find one.
